Help build Melbourne’s social scene.

Intermingle Australia runs community events across Melbourne, including Linguas, Respawn, Thought Experiment and international social nights. We are looking for friendly people who can help welcome guests, support activities and make newcomers feel comfortable.

Before you apply

Please do not just show up as a volunteer.

Volunteer spots are limited, especially on Tuesdays. Please apply first and wait for us to get back to you before attending as a volunteer.

  • First time volunteers should come at 5pm.
    We use this time to explain the event, the venue flow and what we need help with before guests arrive.
  • We will give you a drink and shared food.
    This is a volunteer/community role, but we want you to feel looked after while helping.
  • Tuesday applications are currently closed.
    You can still apply for Tuesday, but you will be added to the waiting list.

Tuesdays are one of our more limited events for volunteers. You can still apply and select Tuesday Linguas - waitlist only, but please wait until we contact you before coming in. Thursday applications are still open depending on the week.

We are looking for reliable, friendly people who are comfortable talking to strangers, welcoming newcomers and helping events feel organised without making them feel formal.

  • Welcoming guests
    Help people find the host table, understand the event and feel included.
  • Language and social flow
    Help people find conversations, language tables or activities.
  • Games and activities
    Help with social games, party activities, gaming nights or small-group events.
  • Content and social media
    Help with photos, reels, short interviews or event coverage if suitable.
